Day 7

We are supposed to get another snow storm here in Alabama again.   Two big snow falls in less than a month is totally unheard of around here.  I went to the grocery store to get a few staples and Wal-Mart was jammed pack of people buying food, candles, laterns, and whatever else, they think they will need for this storm.  Unfortunately around here, it is quite likely that the power will go off so people want to be prepared.  One of my co-workers has gone out tonight to purchasae a generator in case the power goes out.  There are many side roads, dirt roads, and steep hills that could cause a lot of problems for people driving.  About a month ago, we had a hard freeze after it rained and where it would take me 20 minutes to get home it took me about three hours.  I made it two miles from my house when my car slid and finally stopped about three feet from a 10 foot drop off into a creek.  The road was just one sheet of ice.  Thankfully a neighbor finally came by and got my car where I could drive the rest of the way home. 

Anyway, We are expected to get snow Sunday and I've heard predictions from 2 inches to 10 inches of snow.  Either way, it will stop everything, school will be closed for several days depending on the roads and the cold weather because the buses can't drive down some roads when there is ice and snow.  The kids have already missed four days of school from the last snow and that was about 2 inches of snow then so if we get more, they may be off another week.  The down side is that they will have to go to school into June.  Good for me, bad for them :). 

I love taking pics of clouds and I didn't have my camera with me but I had my cell phone so I took a few pics of the darks clouds that were moving earlier today.  They definitely look like snow clouds.  I said all of this to explain my pictures for today.  I hope that we get a significant amount of snow!

Day 6

We are really having fun doing this challenge trying to come up with ideas for pictures.  I think that Eli is having fun posing and coming up with ideas for these pictures.  Here are a few that we took tonight.  BTW, he doesn't smoke and was coughing and choking while taking these pictures.  He says to me "See what you're making me do"  Like I put a gun to his head or something, LOL, it was his idea!  Anyway we had fun doing these.   You see he had to pray and ask for forgivness for these pictures :)

Day 5

Working with light again.  Ryon is always willing to be my "model" since he loves to pose and flex, so I used him in these shots to work on headshots.  Not too happy with them but Ryon loved them, LOL.  I don't think that I could ever take too many pics of him according to him.  He is definitley not modest.  I don't like the shadow. 

Day 4

I went to church on Tuesday and the pastor, Bro. Terrell, loves to play the guitar.  Ever since I have known him and it has been some years LOL, he plays the guitar from time to time.  One song that I love to hear him sing is Blind Maggie.  He didn't sing that on this night but he sang several songs.  I wanted to capture him playing.  Again, not the best pic.  I used my Kodak point and shoot and it truly makes me appreciate my Canon XTI even more.  He had a big crowd for a week night.  A very good service.

Day 3

I took this yesterday but did not get a chance to post.  It is not the best pic due to it being graniy but I was able to catch a pretty good play by my son, so I am posting it anyway,  I have got so many ideas for the upcoming days, I can't wait until I try them all. 

Now that's a rebound!

Day 2

I want to work with light more so this gives me an opportunity to really work at getting better at this.  A friend gave me the idea for this after the pics from yesterday so I took a pic of candles in the dark.  It is a little crooked (I need a new tripod) but here it is.

Of course, he wanted to get in on the action since it was his idea, LOL

First picture of the year, Day 1

I have wanted to do hand photography so I figured that this would be my first try at it.  My son, Ryon, who is pretty much willing to help me in any way including modeling his hand; posed for this shot.  I included another pic of hands just seeing what I could do.  I know I need more work but as every photographer will tell you is practice, practice, practice so this challenge is just pefect for that.

I liked the blue and for some reason there is a ring behind his hands.  The second pic was no edited.  The third pic I wanted to show some contrast so Ryon and his cousin posed for that one.
